hi, i'm posting! i'm sorry & i suck! have done many many MANY fun things which i will hopefully post about, & bought LOTS. i have bunches & bunches of photos to catch up on, & lots of things for which i have NO photos cos mine is currently in tasmania with my sister!

anyway, i hope you all like the re-design (even though it's about a week old by now :S) a prize to anyone who can guess the handwriting in my header! (NOT YOU LIV!) seriously, i will give you a prize, cos it's so awesome.

so, things what i have bought! today my new (& very first ever!) vibrator arrived, so pretty excited about that ;) but MORE exciting is the fact that today i found a little bookshelf thing to put all my shoes on! i am SO SO freakin excited about it, it was $10 & made of crappy plywood shit so i can totally paint over & redecorate it. YAY. i'm thinking of sticking all sorts of pictures & stuff on there, maybe printing out some (poladroid!) photos too.

what i wore new year's eve. i loved this outfit :) the dress cost me $10! yay. & i love love love these shoes. my sister hates them. they are surprisingly comfy & were only $15 down from about $70! i had a great night sitting around with friends drinking the YUMMIEST homemade mojitos ever & watching yes minister & blackadder. ♥♥♥

was going to do my southbound post tonight, but got distracted planning Fairy Bread Friday/Fairy Lover Night :) instead, here are 7 random facts about me, just cos i felt like it.

i have a bad habit of leaving my car door/boot open in order to finish unpacking, & then forget about it for hours :S
i can't eat breakfast until i have at least brushed my teeth, but preferably had a shower as well.
i lived in italy for the first 2 years of my life but sadly don't remember any of it
i have only ever had 1 serious boyfriend & he was an idiot, but i haven't been as attracted to anyone since then as i was to him
i identify as sexually ambiguous (i hate the term bisexual) but i've never actually kissed a girl *cue katy perry music, ugh*
whenever i change-over handbags i leave a bunch of crap in the bigger one & forget about it for a week
my favourite book in the world is saving francesca by melina marchetta & you need to read it!

sooo blogger is being a total cunt. i have been trying to re-vamp my little space for the last 2 hours or so, & between my stupid computer & blogger it has become a chore & a half. hopefully i will be able to fix the layout in the morning, so until then please bear with me! i also lost my entire blogroll, but i managed to remember most of it (i'm only missing about 5! yay me) so once it's back up, if i've missed you please let me know!

i loooove this top, it's made of the nicest material - so soft & yummy. it's my mum's from italy 20 years ago (we lived there after i was born until i was 2). i cannot seem to take a proper photo of these pants, they are so much better in real life! i love the old-fashioned look of them, very grace kelly :)

the top is draping wierdly in the first couple of photos so i took the other two to give you a better idea of how it sits.

the two new additions to my glomesh collection, courtesy of my mother today from the op shop. these things sell for anywhere between $39-70 at vintage shops so i refuse to buy any, but she scored these for $5 each- yay! so now my gold glomesh collection looks like the photo on the right (under our tiny christmas tree, hehe) - all i need now is a clutch-purse!

this is what i wore to the chris brown/rihanna concert... which tells you how long i've had these photos sitting around for :S eek. anyway, i apologise (yet again) for my slight absence, i have been pretty busy over the weekend - present-making (SO EXCITING OMG), going to a street festival, seeing high school musical 3 (SO AMAZING, must see again... zac efron, mmmmmm), going to a party & going out to dinner at fraser's where we had a degustation menu, soooooo good.

i added this necklace after i took these photos.

it's actually my mum's & when i put it on i couldn't figure out why i had even picked it up cos i don't particularly like it, & then i realised... hehe.

& here are the salt & pepper grinders we gave my dad & stepmum for their 5th wedding anniversary (wood is the traditional 5-year gift). i did the all the decorating :) hee, it was so much fun!

i loved wearing this outfit, i woke up that morning & went "happy colours!" & ended up with this :) this tee looks very american apparel-y, in my opinion, & i picked it up for like $4!

firstly, i would like to apologise for the crappyness of the second photo, no one is home & i can't find my tripod :S & secondly, NEW SHOES! you can't see them in this photo but they are ashley olsen-inspired & i love them. another thing i love: these pants. i bought them aaages ago but hadn't worn them yet & for some reason put them on today. SO IN LOVE. the top is one my mum picked up for me last week, i think it's pretty cute.

the top outfit is from last week sometime, & i (drumroll....) love it! i bought the vest last weekend (breaking my self-imposed no-shopping-except-at-opshops ban, but oh well) on sale, cos i have been wanting one for aaaages but unable to find one that fit me!

i watched high society tonight & my god grace kelly was beautiful. great movie, & the clothes were to die for. the shirt & pants at the beginning were just gorgeous, & i loved the drapey thing she wore by the pool, & of course her swimsuit.

farrr out, my life like exploded in the week or so since i finished uni & i haven't had access to a computer for more than like 10 minutes at a time! so i have lots of photos & news to catch up on :)

i watched the australian idol final last night with my nonna & i have to say, wes carr is pretty amazing. here's his song, you.
i am currently obsessed with adam hills, hamish & andy, & the babysitter's club.
i really need to stop uploading things to sendspace & get myself a megaupload account.
my sister & i have been mainlining the l word (she's seen it before though) & we're currently up to season 3- one episode to go! & it is SO DEPRESSING & we both cried buckets watching it today :( best show though, check it out if you haven't seen it!
i'm going away this weekend to a farm with my cousin so am hoping to update lots this week to make up for it (though not off to a very good start am i...?)
i went to chris brown & rihanna (last week? week before? eek) & it was actually amazing. wayyy better than i was expecting, & he is so adorable.
i have lots of AWESOME concerts coming up in the next couple of months! the waifs & ani difranco, human nature with waso, ben lee with waso (saw him & mandy moore in kings park with waso earlier this year, AMAZING), RYAN ADAMS OMG (this is almost as exciting as getting to see mraz & tegan and sara) &&& of course southbound, YAY!
oh & i went to the andre rieu concert saturday night courtesy of my parents & it was pretty amazing. gorgeous music & great food haha.

don't know if any of you are into twilight, but i find it hilarious. it is just the most ridiculous, badly-written book to be this popular... well, ever! so you have to laugh or you will cry that people take it seriously. the funniest thing is that robert pattinson, AKA cedric from harry potter, is playing the main character (a vampire who literally sparkles in sunlight, by the way!) HATES it & thinks the author is insane. it's highly amusing.

this is what i wore saturday night to go see eros ramazzotti, an italian singer that my mum & i love. i pulled it together in about 5 seconds so i was pretty impressed.. can you tell that this skirt + vest combo is going to be my new failsafe?

twas a super super freezing night though, i had on a heavy coat & scarf & hat & blanket & was still cold! but worth it, i do love his music & i must admit he's pretty hunky, definitely one of those guys that get hotter as they get older. i totally have a thing for older men... actors, anyway. the only young actors i like are dominic cooper and... yup that's all i can think of! speaking of, check out this yummy photo from the sartorialist.

mmm, how jealous am i! for those of you that are thinking 'where do i know him from...' he is in mamma mia! (which i loved, by the way), the duchess with keira knightly, a tv production of sense & sensibility, starter for 10 with james macavoy (double the hot!) and a fantastic movie called the history boys, which if you haven't seen it you must!

bought my copy of influence today! i was so excited when the guy said they actually had it, i was expecting to have to wait. i haven't read much, but what i have so far is really interesting & of course the photos are amazing. it's so exciting to get a better feel for their personalities as well, i can't wait to watch all the interviews they're been doing for it as well.

i cannot even put into words how much i love this outfit. it's made out of my mum's top & also a vest of hers which i layered to avoid gaping arm-holes. this was taken in front of my old school, after a fashion parade put on by the art students. it was good, but not as good as previous years.. & no i didn't take photos, clearly i am an idiot!

better shot of the dress itself. honestly, i think this outfit sums up the essence of my style. occasionally i dress a bit more trendy, or a bit more demure or vintage-y, but this is the sort of thing i feel most comfortable in. classic, simple looks with not too many accessories. & damn but i felt hot in this! haha :) i was going to wear my sister's punk-ish cuff, but i thought this looked a little classier.

i adore the one steph is wearing, sadly it is far too big for me but i am hoping next time we have an EVENT to go to i can convince her to wear it. the one of the left is actually floor-length & while i do love it i doubt i'll get much wear out of it as it's quite big/loose in the shoulder & neckline.

the dress on the left is one my mum wore as a bridesmaid many many years ago, & it is heavy like you would not believe... but so much fun to wear! the dress on the right i absolutely ADORE, i'm thinking in winter with boots & maybe a belt it will look fab.

dan kelly, nothing compares 2 u. you kind of have to be in the mood for this one, but it's lovely when you are. a bit country-ish, but in a quiet, mellow way. i really love this version.

i really like this dress, it's very comfy & such a cute shape- normally i have a lot of trouble with shirt dresses, cos they're too long! when i bought this the lady was laughing because she said that other people bought it as a top! haha. i usually wear it with a thicker belt by my brown one broke :( so now i'm on the hunt for a new one! not fun.

i have had this post kicking around in draft since SUNDAY, but at least it's 4 days since i started it so it fits in with the theme? haha.

4 things I did today:
1. watched I Could Never Be Your Woman (starring Michelle Pfeiffer & Paul Rudd, written by Amy Heckerling aka Ms Clueless- does it get any more awesome than that? NO) & it was very cute & funny, i loved it & you should all definately check it out. Michelle Pfeiffer is smoking man!
2. played dress-ups at my nonna's with some awesome vintage dresses
3. spent most of the day packing up my nanna's house & putting everything into storage
4. hooned around in the car with my cousin :)

4 things on my to-do list:
1. do all my overdue uni work :S
2. organise some work experience for the holidays
3. update my blog!
4. organise my bookcase.. a MASSIVE task, let me tell you!

4 guiltiest pleasures:
1. SHOES, ugh. this spending has got to stop!

3. reading a book with a nice cup of tea when no one else is home :)

i have decided to make madeline my trademark of sorts. i LOVED her when i was little, cos i always identified with her- she was the littlest, but also the coolest, which was a total boost to my self-esteem when i got teased for being short, haha. but i never cared too much about being short, i actually really like being tiny (although maybe 2 more inches wouldn't go astray...).

i have a whole bunch of "nanna jumpers" that i got off my nonna last year & wore to death, but i just haven't tended to wear them much this winter. this one is my favourite, it's black & big & woolly without being schlumpy, & so warm. i started wearing nanna jumpers about 3-4 years ago & got teased endlessly for it, but i love them. & i have decided that gumboots are perfect trans-seasonal wear, as with a pair of shorts & a jumper/tshirt i am nice & warm without having to wear tights, woohoo!

another gumboot outfit i wore last week sometime. this jumper is my sister's, & is sooo cuddly. i steal it whenever i am freezing but want to look half-decent, as my only jumper that is this warm is my leavers one... so not cool. i love these boots cos the cut somehow makes my legs look super-skinny when worn with a short skirt. seriously, check out how different my legs look in the 2 sets of photos. it's kind of awesome. therefore, my new goal is to find a pair of flat leather boots that have the same effect.

and look! my babies arrived today! super-quick, less than a week i'm pretty sure. they're so comfy & i love them, yay!

my new cutoffs. i'm debating whether or not to cuff them, cos i'm going to attempt some alexander wang-style diy. & on the right is the awesome jewellery my dad gave me on the weekend- they were actually his from about 20 years ago, my uncle bought them in singapore but they don't fit anymore. anyway, i love them.

first, i would like to apologise profusely for my ridiculously long absence. i can't believe it's been 2 weeks! i've just been really busy & it was my blogging that fell by the wayside. anyway, here's a bit of an outfit round-up from the last 10 days.

shirt, cotton on. skirt, op shop (rodney clark). shoes, anna vanilla. earrings & bracelets, vintage. necklaces, tiffany's.

these earrings were given to me (or i took, hehe) by my nonna, & i love them. this skirt i bought a couple of weeks ago & it fits perrrfectly & is the right length too, yay! the shirt is a cheapie cotton on one but the fabric is quite thin & very comfy, & has long ties coming off the collar than you can leave hanging, tie in a bow, or tie around the back as i've done here.

i actually wore my blue aa skirt for the day, but changed into this once i finished it :) i really like the green with the gold belt, i think the colours complement really well.

i finally tried out childhood flames' puff skirt tutorial! they're pretty easy, take a couple of hours each, but i think i'm going to play around with it a bit. the elastic in the waistbands keeps twisting, so i might try sewing over the elastic as i do my top seam- only problem with that is how to get an even distribution of material around the elastic for the puff, if you get what i mean...

anyway, i looove the colours in the blue skirt, but unfortunately i made the elastic a tad too loose so it sits a little funny. grr. the green one is made out of some material from an old dress of my nonna's, she brought it over from italy so it would be probably 30-40 years old. & the flowery one i just adore, i wore it to work last week with black top & tights & belt and it looked super cute. the material was very hard to sew though, as it's slightly stretchy.

me & my cousins in italy many years ago, i would've been about 1.5 i think. i adore this photo :)

arghhh i foresee a very late/early one tonight, have to finish a stupid stupid essay that is already late. i suck. anywayy have been a bit busyish this week, it was my sister's birthday yesterday & we had dinner with the fam last night. was very fun, went scootering around subiaco with my cousin & ate lots of yummy food & drank lots (aka a bit too much) prosecco, which is yummy italian sparkling wine. no outfit photo from last night cos i changed to make my stepmum happy even though i didn't like it, but i couldn't be bothered arguing.

anyway here is basically the only two outfits i have worn this week, go me!

i'm trying to get my wear out of these shoes while i can, cos if i wear them without socks or tights they give me ridiculous blisters, which is a bit sad. & here is my le sac dress! i loooove the colour, & it's fun to play around with but i'm still getting the hang of it. this is probably my favourite way to wear it, & without a top underneath you can see the way the super-long strap hangs down on the left, it looks cool. i think it would be pretty easy to make one yourself though, it's basically a huuuge rectangle of material sewn halfway up the sides & with the strap threaded through the top, so i might attempt that on the weekend...

my gojane.com package arrived today, & what a package it was!

that's the box it came in, & if you can imagine it fitting 4 shoeboxes with room to spare then you'll have an idea of what i had to carry out of the post office.. hehe. i have to say, i am in love. i was totally stressing that they wouldn't fit, but they all do so i am very happy! & they came so quick, only a week. but then that would account for the shipping being USD$40. anyway, the tribute copies are fantastic, especially considering they only cost $30. i don't think they're quite as high as the originals or the country road/urban soul copies, but they are super comfy & i will definately be wearing them lots come summer! the pink flats i got cos they were only $8 & t-bars are so cute. the slingback peep-toe oxfords are kind of tacky, but in an awesome way. they are soo high though, 5 inch heel with a 1 one inch platform.. but again, that's good! they are so fun to clomp around in, & surprisingly comfy. very sturdy, too. anyway, i highly highly recommend.

here was just a couple of outfits i threw (literally, heh) together to show off the shoes a bit. the middle top/outfit is my "oh my god it's so hot i'm going to die but unfortunately have to leave the house & look decent" outfit. the hot pink thing is an old leotard/bathers i've had in my drawer for ages thinking that eventually i would wear it.. & i was right. it has this hilarious pattern on it, too.

my last post seems to have attracted a whole bunch of new readers/commenters, so i guess i'll have to do it more often, as i'm always finding random cool stuff like that around the place. i'm soooo behind on replying to comments though, sorry about that!

anyway, here's what i wore yesterday

spent the day (yesterday, now) eating cakes & such, as we had an extended family morning tea & then i had afternoon tea with my friend amanda in the city. over the course of the day i had ginger cupcakes, scones with jam & cream & a delicious mixed berry cheesecake. & we saw this marc jacobs dress that blair wore in a recent episode of gossip girl! so pretty.

aaalso, my american apparel order arrived! yay! i got the le sac dress (which omg so glad i did, cos the day after they put it up to $65!! & i got mine for 42!), this skirt- which i love waaay more than i expected to, a deep v-neck tshirt (the summer shirt), and the black/white zipper bodysuit, which is SO AWESOME. but i'm going to swap the tee for an interlock mini, cos i'm buying a whole bunch of stuff on ebay from a wholesaler, & they don't have the skirts on there but do have the tees, so that'll be much more economical. anyway, hope everyone had as super a weekend as i did!

i finally realised that the photos on a few previous posts weren't showing up for some reason, nor were the photos on my last post enlarge-able, which kind of defeats the purpose of the lips one! so anyway, that's fixed. not a good day today- got barely any work done & i have a ton, & i couldn't get my hair to look as good as it did yesterday :( ANYWAY enough complaining!

ugh, today's photos are pretty gross. i've really gotten to that point in the season where i am SO SICK of winter clothes & layers & blah blah blah. i want bare legs! so i compromised with nude-ish stockings, though clearly i need some that actually resemble skin colour & not corpse-skin.. hehe. i really like the way the socks + shoes combo ends up resembling booties, which is cool since i've never bought any as i don't think i'll get enough wear out of them. i tend to wear longer hemlines in winter & being so short, ankle boots are only an option with super short skirts!

my american apparel goodies should hopefully be arriving wednesday, yay! i'm so glad i went ahead & got the le sac dress cos a couple of days later they upped the price by $25!!! insane!

ugh, see? hair not looking as cool goddamnit. anyway, this was my attempt at this awesome pic i found yesterday. my heart isn't as exact as the one below, but considering i used normal lipsticks & they probably used brushes & stuff, i'm pretty impressed with how it turned out. grrr i get so annoyed with my hair every time i look at that photo on the left! ruuuude.

i was thinking about it today, & it takes a lot of self-confidence to cut your hair this short. you have to be confident in your looks cos you don't have anything to hide behind, & bad hair/face days are no longer an option.. no hiding horrible breakouts under your fringe, etc etc. i've always wanted to try a pixie cut but never had the courage to do it, & i think now i'm finally comfortable enough with myself to not feel super self-conscious with it. i do a bit, but that's just no-hair shock, haha. i've gotten a lot more confident in myself the past year & a half or so, partly because i know i always dress well, & i feel like i'm attractive, most of the time. it's true, if you look good you feel good. ...i had more of a point to make, but i got distracted uploading the song. oh well.

apart from the fact that that bottom lip is freakin HUGE, how cool is that concept? i can't wait to try it! (i had to take out my mouth in that photo cos it looked too silly, but it was the best photo of my hairrr)

my hair! horrible photos, i'm pretty happy with it.. probably a bit shorter in the sides than i wanted but that'll grow out in about a week. & it's so easy! i've been straightening my hair daily for about 3 years now i think... this i just chuck a bit of product in & i'm good to go, it's so exciting!

& look, stonewash shorts! i'm kind of in love. i can definately see these being a staple come summer... oh & shrinking my jeans went pretty well, i just need to run them through the dryer tomorrow & they should be good to go, yay!

&&& most exciting thing ever, i will soon be the proud owner of TWO pairs of nine west/balenciaga knock-off gladiator wedges, & these super fierce fendi knock-offs from newport news! i discovered the concept of mail forwarding services, & decided to go with this one called Carrie My Shopping run by an australian living in america. the wedges were on sale on ninewest.com so with my discount coupons that i googled i ended up getting both for $101 & the newport shoes for $35! shipping + credit card fees should be like $40 tops i reckon so all up that's a damn good deal, considering i tried the nine west shoes on in the city the other day to check my size & they're $170! unbelievable, hey? it's actually way way cheaper to order them from the US site & get them forwarded.. just ridiculous. oh & they are so beautiful in real life, & so comfy! i fell in love straight away & had to get them.

photo on the left only included cos you can see my new lipstick. colour is brighter in real life, & it was only $2! i love it. introducing... my new stonewash jeans! a uni friend (aforementioned hot well-dressed presentation partner to be exact) has these & i was extremely envious until he informed me that they are from target! so of course i rushed down there straight after uni & found them more than 50% off, with one size 8 left! i've been craving stonewashed jeans for ages, so colour me very happy :) wearing them with my degrassi tee cracks me up cos it's so 80s.

however, does anyone know how to shrink jeans? cos they're too big around the waist & just too baggy in general for my liking.

i looove this dress, the colours are so fun & happy, the fit is great & the length is perfect. these are some of my favourite flats too, so cheap & comfy & yellow!sorry for the crappy jewellery details, i'm too lazy to take a proper photo. but i made the bracelet myself, i love it! the red buttons are actually little flowers, so cute. it has a matching ring, & this yellow ring here actually has a smiley face on it :)

currently i am drinking yummy camomile tea out of this cute mug (i think it cost me anout $2?) i like the lady & her red lips & the colour makes me think of coffee & caramel. yummm. underneath is my media ethics textbook which i am trying to write a 2000 word case-study with. super fun!

my young lovers tee finally came, & it's the right size now yay! i love it so much. wore this to uni yesterday, did my presentation with an extremely hot smart well-dressed boy who sadly has a girlfriend :( & finally we have an appearance by my all-time favourite jeans. they have holes in both the knees from when i fell down a set of steps, but i still wear them constantly. they are just the best colour/fit/comfort etc. LOVE.

oh & all photos in this post are kind crappy cos it was dark & raining by the time i got home! (& about 1030 when i decided to play dress-ups.. haha)

as you can tell, the sun was kind of killing me. how cute is this skirt! i picked it up when tara & i went op-shopping last week. i didn't really like this outfit yesterday & ended up changing into the one below, but now the more i look at it the more i like it.. hmmm.

what i really wore. i have to say, i love the paperbagishness of the waist, especially with the studded belt. LOVE. ultimately i decided i didn't like the grey tights, & ended up changing to grey ones after i took the pictures. oh & as i tried this skirt on in the shop the grease theme song started playing, which made me laugh cos just add a crinoline & some white sneakers & that's what this skirt is!

& my jewellery! the coin bracelet is one i bought it sydney, i particularly love it cos the coins are either italian or roman, so yay for heritage! (see what i mean about liking my jewellery to mean something...?) the other 2 bracelets are vintage ones of my stepmum's, as is the ring with the black stone. the earrings are my everyday ones from sportsgirl, the jumbo ring is one of the burlesque show ones & the tiffany's necklace was my 18th birthday present from my mum. oh & the other necklace is either real tiffany's or a very good copy (i think the latter) but i'm not sure cos it was a present! either way, i love it, it's the perfect chain length.

my mum loves tiffany's & pretty much that was my only option for my 18th present.. i'm not such a fan (i think it's a bit overrated, to be honest) but finally managed to pick something. i ended up with this one, cos it was pretty cute & not something that you see on EVERYONE (like those chunky chainlink bracelets with the heart hanging off them). also it actually says tiffany's on it so at least you know what it is & you're getting a bit of the cachet of the name, if you get what i mean. cos when i hear tiffany's it makes me think of audrey hepburn, which is about the only thing i really like about it. but you know, it's pretty, although i only wear it together with this necklace cos i find it too short on its own.

i love my cons. & i love this blazer! i don't really have much to say, i have 50 bajillion assignments due this week so am trying to get those done.. argh! spent all day saturday working at the election, from 7am to 9pm. long day, to say the least! have just been bumming around in my favourite jeans, cons & my old school jumper for the last couple of days. this outfit is from last week, uni & op-shopping! went back to that super-huge salvos in cannington with tara & picked up a few things, including a denim jumpsuit/playsuit/romper (what's the difference, anyway?) with a big exposed zip down the middle.. clearly i have been reading way too much fashiontoast!

the blazer! not bad for $10, considering how thin on the ground a decent one seems to be in perth!

the necklace is an old vintage one of my mum's, & the charm bracelet is miiiiine, i love it so much! all the charms (& bracelet) are vintage, & my favourite is the trumpet, cause i used to play. i love classic charm bracelets like this, i have to say that i really don't understand the whole pandora craze, they're so expensive for what they are, & totally unoriginal- everyone has them! if i'm going to spend that amount of money on something i'd much rather it be unique. but then i'm just partial to vintage jewellery in general.

have been having problems with blogger all weekend, but i think it's fixed now, so yay.

wore this last week sometime when i was home all day to "study", but not much of that ended up happening.. did some blogging & then did some more sewing with my nonna! i looove the skirt, it's just a plain black one from cotton on (that i have about 3 of!) that i added the iron-on to. i've had it sitting around for ages & was thinking about putting it on a tshirt, but then had a brainwave & thought the skirt would look much cooler! this outfit may or may not have been made with my wanting to wear both my 'new' skirt & super-cool rings.. you can't really tell but i'm wearing the huge clear & purple ones i bought at the burlesque show!

i doubly love this collection, not only because all the pieces are absolutely stunning, but also because the concept is so totally awesome! it's called Vivat Regina by wendy brandes, & each piece is named after a great woman in history. these are just my favourites, there are a lot more on her site, including a whole bunch of poison rings, one of which is named after Agrippina, sister of Caligula, wife of Claudius and mother of Nero. i kind of love her after reading this book Claudia: Daughter of Rome about Pontius Pilate's wife, who was Agrippina's niece. i love love love this kind of stuff, historical novels like philippa gregory, anything about the war of troy etc. i've read some really great books in that vein & am always looking for more so if anyone has any recommendations, feel free!

which ones are your favourites? personally i love the diana ring in silver (though it's pretty gorgeous in gold too!) the boleyn necklace in silver & the cleves pendant, i think, though i'm pretty partial to the queen of scots pendant too... & of course the zenobia ring is totally awesome. the first two are about the only ones anywhere near my price range though! haha.

oh & can i just tell all you kids, this game is seriously addictive.

apologies for the terrible photo, i ran out of time before i left & my sister was in bed when i got home! i was lucky she even took the picture for me. & yes, that is a whole lot of high school musical posters behind me.. haha. anyhoo this is what i wore sunday night to go see sugar blue burlesque with the lovely tara for her birthday! finally got my (well, my sister's) blazer back from nonna that we bought a couple of months ago, it needed the shoulder pads taken out & thankfully it now looks fabulous. now i'm just on the lookout for a shrunken single-breasted one.. anyway, this is how i was originally wanting to wear this dress, so i'm very happy that it looks good. i decided to be exciting with my makeup for once & broke out the glitter! it's just some craft glitter that i've had sitting around for years & years & years.. seriously, since i was about 8 haha. i just put some lipbalm on my eyelid to make it stick & then bam with the glitter! turned out rather well i thought.

this month's theme was viva lust vegas, & it was fabulous! pictures below. they had some fabulous merchandise, such as gorgeous elbow-length gloves with ribbons on the end, handmade pasties & some great giant cocktails rings for only $5! i have a weakness for big rings, so i ended up buying 3... :)

that last photo is of the girl who LIT HER PASTIE TASSELS ON FIRE & then swung them around dancing & stuff.. it was amazing!

oh & i baked! snickerdoodles, like veronica mars. so yummy :) man i love these sneakers- velco! & prison checks! & velcro! so awesome. i need more velcro sneakers. (in fact i do not need any more sneakers, currently owning 9 pairs... + about 4 that i never wear.)

watched juno again on the weekend so have been listening to the soundtrack a fair bit, & also downloaded the moldy peaches album. pretty cool, some wierd stuff but awesome too. i like this song by kimya dawson, it's pretty similar to her stuff on the juno st. i like giants! "all girls feel too big sometimes regardless of their size" (i like that line)

the first of my op shop purchases from last week! i hemmed these myself, i am so proud. haha. i adore these pants, my sister thinks they're ugly but i just love them- they fit like they were made for me & i love the pleats & the silhouette & the little buttons on the waist! just perfect. the only problem is that i have to wear tights underneath cos the polyester rubs like a bitch. i wore this to work friday, & these shoes which were fine last week absolutely killed my feet- i had 4 blisters at the end of the day! so clearly they can only be worn for shortish periods... lesson learned!

i was so excited to wear my little clown, too. isn't he adorable? i've had him for years & years, i think my dad bought him for me when i was little. i'm loving this whole brooch obsession of mine at the moment!

the bangle is from cotton on (i have such a hard time buying these big bangles cos most of them fall straight off me cos my hands/wrists are so little!) & the ring is from greece, it's a traditional design or something.. i love it.

my sister's into cat power at the moment as well so i've been listening to a fair bit of her. i really like this song, don't get the lyrics but it's got a great feel to it. (free by cat power)

i just thought that first pic came out really cool, & in the other 2 i was sick of trying not to squint cos the sun was blinding me. this top from cotton on is one of my faaaavourites, i love the colour & the style, & it just sits so well. i also love how it's really drapey but the sleeves are nice & tight... & it only cost me $5!

and as you can see, the american apparel dress is here to stay, woohoo! don't know that i'll ever wear it by itself, but i love the colour & it's great for layering & adding a pop of colour to outfits. yesterday i spent half the day at nonna's helping her alter my op-shop haul! for the first time, i took up the hem on a pair of pants myself & started on the 2 skirts, but they both have linings so nonna's going to finish those. it was pretty funny cos she would be doing the same thing as me but twice as quick! it was fun though. so hopefully some photos of that stuff coming soon!

i loove these in the blue, but they only have my size in the black so not sure if i'll bother... & these last last 2 i'm dithering between the pink & the white. i like the 2-tone of the pink but not sure how much i'd use them, whereas the white will be great for summer.

these shoes are so comfy, i tell you. i find most flats tend to hurt my feet after a few hours but i can walk around all day in these! and i love the colour. oooh & did you know all melissa shoes smell like bubblegum when you first get them? so cool.

anyway, i wore this yesterday to go op-shopping with my sister. we went to the giant salvation army store kittentails told me about, and annette, i love you! man that place is huge, i forgot my camera or i would've taken a photo. we only had an hour in there & we didn't even get through half the stuff! and i still managed to spend $30... i bought 2 pairs of pants, 3 skirts & a blouse, and steph bought a vest & a super cute jumper with little scotty dogs all around the hem! but i found some stuff i've been looking for for aaaages, like a straight black high-waisted skirt, a pair of black pants i can wear to work, and a few other things. never been able to find any at op shops because they never have small sizes, so i was shocked at how many i found. no photos yet cos they're all at my nonna's being washed & shortened!

the best part is that they're all such good quality. i love the high-waisted trend, and have been wanting some high-waisted skirts & pants but there is just nothing in the shops at the moment that i find particularly flattering or worth paying the amount of money for! these skirts i bought are all high-waisted, and fit like they were made for me. they also sit really well because they have little darts around the waistband & details like that which you just don't see in many clothes now.

i got this tshirt when i saw tegan&sara last year (with tara!) and they were so so amazing. there were so many girls wolf-whistling in the audience, it was kinda funny & kind of annoying. lots of marriage proposals too, haha. anyway they are gorgeous & talented & i love them & cannot WAIT to see them at southbound. every couple of days i say to my sister... "how are you not dying of excitement?? you get to see TEGAN & SARA!" (as she is only 15, this is very exciting for her) oh also, their support act was kaki king, & i really wish i'd bought her cd at the gig as it was a limited ep called daysleeper, and it was amazing. yikes i use that word a lot.. need to find some new adjectives i think!

and then this is what i wore out to dinner & clubbing! i love this dress, i can wear it so many different ways & it only cost me $15! dinner was pretty good, only $80 for the 3 of us, but the service was terrible. the first girl we ordered dessert with forgot about it, & then didn't even realise she'd forgotten, & then the second girl kept us waiting for it a fair while as well! but at least the music at claremont was good, lots of justin & usher & some old school stuff as well like i wanna dance with somebody, and this song from around 2000 that i used to LOVE called dance with my by debelah morgan... pretty sad that i can still remember her name AND all the lyrics!

pretty boring, but it was just one of those days. i got to class & realised i had totally spaced on a presentation! as in, not even realised i was meant to be going that week.. luckily my teacher is awesome. and you can't actually see my watch in the photo, but i wore my sister's L word watch to uni, because it amused me to think of people seeing naked ladies on my wrist and probably doing a mental double-take. haha. and yes, the mka one is mine... what can i say! you should see my room.

lots of my purchases have arrived in the past few days, it's been very exciting! i bought this tshirt, and an american apparel double u-neck dress (!!!) so exciting omg, and some super-cute red shoes from topshop, and another cute carrie tshirt, aaaand some cheap monday cigarette pants which haven't arrived yet. my sister & i also bought this awesome degrassi tshirt from young lovers but sadly it is too small for her so needs to go back! man i love degrassi so much, you have no idea. it's quite sad actually...

however, to my extreme sadness, i think the u-neck dress is too small :( it's doing that wierd bunchy thing across the front & the little flippy thing in the back that skirts do when they're too small.. what do you guys think? (also, note how long it is on me.. that tells you how short i am! haha)

i have so many posts to catch up on it's kind of overwhelming. 5, at last count. less if i don't split up all my outfits.. anyway, still trying to get my hands on these balenciaga/nine west shoes. found them on amazon but for some reason they won't ship them to me & i can't figure out why! grrr. i guess i'll just have to wait until we get them over here, which i'm assuming we will..

i decided a necklace would be overdoing it with this outfit, so i opted for the brooch instead. my nonna gave it to me years ago, and i think this is only the 2nd time i've worn it. i don't wear brooches much, but i'm going to try to a bit more, as i have a pretty good collection! i love this hairclip, and the earrings are my favourites too, from sportsgirl. i have a huge collection of dangly earrings but i never wear them anymore! i just think they look odd with my hair so short.. wierd, i know!

what are your opinions on tattoos? cool; tacky;okay sometimes depending on _____?

personally i'm not a fan of coloured tattoos, there are a couple of exceptions but mostly i find them tacky. simple black line/filled in tattos can look great, particularly when they're something unique or done in a different way, and of course they have to be meaningful! (and i don't mean your name or something like that.. which i only mention because i know someone that has their nickname tattooed up their arm)

the subject of tattoos came up today because a friend of mine is getting one, and it made me think about the ones i want. firstly, i want a teeny little music note on the inside of my left wrist, off to the side and up near my hand.

basically like this. however, i won't be getting it for a couple more years because my parents would totally freak, and as i still live at home i can't really be bothered dealing with it haha. but i'm happy to wait.

i also want one on my right hipbone, or just under; writing of some sort, but not sure what. although, i also like this 'breathe' one of lindsay lohan's. and i also like the placement of this other tattoo of hers, and the font is nice too apart from the super-curly bits at the top.

flowers & flowers. it makes me laugh cos they match so perfectly. gosh i love this dress. wearing it just makes me so happy haha. in summertime i can see myself wearing it with white cons & the sleeves rolled up. normally i'm not a footless tights-wearer at all, but i just didn't feel like wearing stockings today.

overdosed on fashiontoast today, and as a consequence am contemplating buying these babies on ebay. the only problem i have is that the wedge is sooo steep i'm not sure how comfortable they'd be, seeing as there's no platform at the front. i've seen a few much cheaper versions which would probably be more comfortable, but these are more true to the balenciaga original.. oh, what to do!

and then i also came across this lovely shoe, which i had been admiring on lady melbourne for a fair while. hers are apparently off ebay too, so i'm assuming they are the same shoe. don't think i'll buy these though. they're a size 6 & about $25, let me know if you want the link!

so, any opinions on which i should get? all are affordable, depending on how the bidding goes. i'm leaning towards possibly the burberry's, though my only worry is that i'm not much of a sandal-gal, and definately the balenciaga's, either the nine west or the ebay copy. but please tell me which you think- are the cheap ones too cheap looking, should i go for the nine west's?

EDIT: damn, somebody bought the burberry's! i didn't realise there was a buy it now option on them... *facepalm*

if anyone's interested (tara, i'm looking at you!) there's an 8.5 in the nine west gladiators here for only $25! ($50 incl. shipping) and an 8 in the burberry's here. and a couple more pairs of the nine wests's here and here from 5.5 to 7 in black & brown.

i have lusted after these for about 3 years now, and i still want them. i haven't yet found a white pair to live up to them, because personally i think it's really hard to do a heeled white shoe without it looking tacky. sigh, these are just so beautiful...

also, song. the speakeasy by daniel may. so pretty, i'm listening to it as i type this. was featured in gossip girl.. they really do have some beautiful classical music in that show.

i decided to experiment with this dress, i love it but never wear it because the bodice is so odd and unflattering, and it's a bit too long on me. this problem i solved by hitching the bottom of the bodice under my belt, and i could probably wear this without the tshirt with different shoes as well. then i decided to see if i could make it a skirt... which yes i could, so in the 2nd picture i actually have the whole bodice under that belt!

op shop finds!

none of these are new, but all are fabulous. i'm not likely to wear any of them in the near future, so i thought i'd share them with you all in one go!

pink shoes: yeojin bae for target

none of these dresses have labels, and all appear to be handmade. i adore these pink shoes, i got them for $15 from target down from $75! such a bargain. i don't think i need to say how amazing this flower power dress is, i adore it. i've only worn it once, for a dress up day at school a couple of years ago, but tomorrow i'm going to attempt to wear it to uni. the red and maroon dresses i bought for $10 each from my local vinnies, and the last one i bought from an op shop years ago when it was closing down for about $20.. all are in great condition, and fit me perfectly with no alterations needed!

op shop shoes, $3 and $10 respectively, very exciting. the lace-ups i've given to my sister, as they're really not my style, but she looks fabulous in them!

my op shop bag collection, most of them are from my local vinnies... in fact, all of them are except this one, which is the evening bag i tend to use the most because it fits soo much in it, and has a shoulder strap!

and here's where i keep all my evening purses on display, i have an enormous bookshelf, mostly filled with my childhood books.

shoes i have inherited from my mother, she has even more gorgeous vintage pairs that are in storage because they sadly don't fit me!

and finally, bags i have taken from my mum & nonna, the black one i use a lot for uni, and the clutch in the top right corner is my favourite, it's so gorgeous and a great size too! i think my nonna wore it for my mum's wedding. nonna also has a fabulous huuuge brown patchwork bag which i will inherit eventually, it is so gorgeous.

this is what i wore today, but mostly spent the day tidying my room & trying on clothes! i also helped my mum tidy out her wardrobe and scored a couple of things which i shall detail below.

i also helped my sister to pick an outfit for her social in a couple of weeks- she's reaaaally not a dress kinda of girl, so we were trying to give her dress a bit of an edge, make it more her. as it ended up, she's wearing a black dress of mine one of two ways: with blue denim-look leggings and my urban soul wedges; or with tights, a gold belt, and these fabulous converse:

the 2 dresses below are actually tops that i took off my mum as she doesn't wear them anymore. the one on the left i had originally intended to try and wear as a top, which didn't really work, and the one on the right i thought would need some sewing, but doesn't! not sure if i'll actually wear either of these, i really need a slip under the ungaro dress, but i was just excited to play around with them :)

wore the first outfit out this morning but then i just didn't feel like wearing a skirt anymore, so i changed! i love these shorts, they're great in both summer and winter, and a bit dressy but not too much, and the pattern is super cute. and they were only $10!

i forgot to mention last night that the sweater is new as well, $45 (half price!) at country road. i've been wanting a classic black sweater for ages as my old one from esprit is so pilled i can't wear it outside the house anymore! and this one is delicate enough to wear with skirts as well as pants, which is a plus.

today we went shopping at target. i only bought a book, considering i just spent a fortune on shoes & other assorted goodies that should be arriving this week, but my sister bought a tshirt, a cardigan and some other stuff that i can't remember.. but i will definately be borrowing the cardigan in the near future!

i made the mistake of popping into zu on my lunch break, and although i had been to the garden city store last week, the city store obviously has some different styles and i found TWO pairs! the mary-janes i have been eying off for a while, but i had originally wanted some a bit more classic in shape with a lower heel, but these were such a good price i couldn't resist. and so comfy! they're the same as my brogue-ish pumps that i wear all the time with the padded sole. i like that the buckle toughens it up a bit, as does the shape because it's not too round & girly.

the blue ones are just lovely, i've been wanting some navy shoes for a while but haven't been able to find any except flats. buuuuuut the more i look at them the more i start to have my doubts. yes they're cute, but i'm not really a fan of the wooden heel, and they don't look terribly good with jeans (see below- though they do look very cute with skirts)! and while i have been wanting some navy shoes, i'm not sure how much i will be able to wear them with seeing as they're so classic and girly, making them not so versatile as something a bit simpler with a more modern shape (like the mary-janes) sorry to give you an essay but i'm in such a quandry! i'll try some outfits with them tomorrow and see how i go, but any opinions would be much appreciated!

today was such a lovely day, even better than yesterday! warm and sunny, and i bought new shoes! (more about those later.) ugh, these photos are shocking! i had to take them at work as i ended up staying late so there was no light left outside!

i love this tshirt, i hesitated over buying it because it was $40 or $50 (i can't remember which) and i didn't love the style of it, but the print reminds me so much of the lion king that i couldn't resist! i looove disney, i also have a sequined mickey shirt, and a little mermaid tshirt. i listen to the music all the time it's just so much fun!

i also love this ring. it's similar to an alannah hill one that retails for about $60, but this only cost me $5 and is just as cute! i don't know why, but it just makes me happy every time i look down at it on my finger. (that sounds really pathetic, but oh well!)

another fun song by the grates- i have been singing and dancing to it all day! i've been in a fantastic mood all day, which i put down to: feeling much better than yesterday, the weather, my tshirt, my ring & my new shoes!

i took the necklace off for the jumping photos (it kept hitting me in the face!) and forgot to put it back on when i took this one :( also, dotti make the most perfect basic tops. i am not a fan of high round necklines generally, and these are the perfect scoop neck, are stretchy enough to be tight-fitting without looking too tight, and are perfect to tuck into skirts etc.

anyhoo, i loved wearing this outfit today. i decided i needed to wear this skirt again, having only worn it once since i bought it! the red tights were to brighten it up a bit, and combined with the cons make it a bit more casual, as it's a fairly dressy skirt.

not much to tell you all today. went to uni, put in my youth allowance application at centrelink, finished my book while sitting in the sun, which was a rather lovely way to spend an hour, and then came home and have been on the internet for far too long!

my jewellery. the two rings to the left are antique and were a present for my birthday in may. the middle right one was a present for my 18th birthday from my mum, and the one on the far right was also an 18th present from my aunty and uncle who bought it in greece. i love these rings, and when i wear gold jewellery i tend to wear all 4 rings at once! i have a huuuge collection of gold jewellery, which i'm sure is an italian thing. the necklace below was an 18th present from my nonna, i adore it. the chain is the perfect length and the cameo is just gorgeous.

and lastly my glomesh collection! all genuine vintage glomesh, and mostly inherited.. the silver and black purses were my mum's, the white was a present from my former boss, as was the gold wallet, and the cigarette holder i bought because it matches my purse. so cute!

today's song. 19 20 20 by the grates, a fantastic australian band who are going to be playing at southbound in january, a 2-day music festival with an amazing lineup this year- franz ferdinand, TEGAN & SARA OMG, gomez, the hives, the kooks and many more! i have to say, i saw tegan & sara last year and they were AMAZING. there are no words. ps this song is fabulous to dance to!

this whole outfit was basically built around me wanting to wear this belt and a bright colour. i really like the blue and white stripes with the orange, but i had a hell of a time finding some shoes and tights that at least semi-matched. it's not a fantastic outfit, but i like the idea of it.

how cute is this belt! i got it from the kid's section in myer, and another one in red with flowers. i think they'll be really good with dresses in summer.

i wore this skirt all weekend, partly because it's new and i love it, and partly because i was too lazy to concoct whole new outfits. but i did still mix it up a little bit, as you can see. inspired by fashionfake, i tried the boots and socks combo which i was finally able to pull off, hooray! i have to say that the variations of this outfit are so versatile, taking me from work to dinner at a restaurant to haircut/shopping to dinner at a friend's place to a concert by the west australian symphony orchestra. whew!

i really, really love this skirt, even more so because it only cost me $16 from the kid's section at target. i've been craving a skirt like this for a few weeks but the only ones i'd seen were in forever new for $60 and the print was nowhere near as nice as this one and the shape was horrible.

you can't really tell, but in the final photo my fringe is GONE. my hair grows so quick that to make it look decent the whole time between cuts i have to get it cut very short, so for the first week i feel very naked.

wore this out to dinner a few days ago with my best friend. we went to the chinese restaurant down the road, then into fremantle for ice cream at amano... mmm. authentic italian gelato; i had mily & cherries which was nicer than i expected. i only chose it because i couldn't decide between passionfruit and chocolate (these is some logic there).

i have to say, the top looks much better on its own in summer, and when it's not so wrinkled. there's a bit of a story behind these shoes, which is that my mother bought a pair for about $120 a while ago and i was constantly borrowing them because i refused to pay that amount for a plain pair of flats to get my own. anyway, i happened to be browsing ebay and a pair in my size just popped up on the screen, and i ended up getting them for around $50! ebay magic at its best.

this purse is one of my favourites. i have a bit of a glomesh obsession, with my collection currently standing at 3 small handbags, a purse and a cigarette container, all of which i shall take a photo of tomorrow as my batteries are currently dead!
